Hey everyone! So idea for rush: APX A-Week team? I realize this would only work if A-Week is in the fall again...does anyone know if it is? I think this would help raise interest in the frat as well as the participation of first years in A-Week, because I know personally I really wanted to participate, but was too nervous to ask some random upper classmen if I could join their team.

so... i pretty much am counting down the days until everyone comes back still. just working at the restaurant. my best friend is in st. louis for the summer and is spending next school year in ireland so she only has a few weeks between.... and during those weeks we're hopefully going to roadtrip! if i'm near anyone i'll let you know :) oh! also may be going to see dave matthews in the woodlands in texas in september... i have one other in my car if it works and have three more seats! anyone interested in joining?

Hey! Thanks Brian for that post, and I guess I'm happy I entertained you all with my facebook message. Things at camp are good, but my campers are exhausting... one of them is bipolar, depressed, ADHD, OCD and has anxiety, she makes my summer 210834720342084x harder. I also help build things for the play sets, and that's pretty much it for me and architecture this summer. I hope y'all are having awesome summers, especially those of you who are being real people. See everyone in a month-ish!

So my visit Vitruvius was definitely a success. Got to sit through their summer meeting, kind of interesting to see what other chapters are and aren't up to. I am glad to announce that our chapter is pretty much on par compared to the two I have visited this summer. It was pretty aesome actually getting to experience an APX house. It is probably the coolest thing ever! We definitel need to work on that lol because it was amazing. Definitely brought the chapter together so much as a whole. But it was a lot of fun overall, learned a new game called slap a hoe. Don't worry I will teach all how to play. Well back to doing noting but work! 33 days til I come back!! but whose counting right? Hope everybody enjoys the rest of their break. I am going to be in Ocean City New Jersey from the 24-31 of July if anyone in the area would like to visit! Anyone is more than welcome! Peace out gangstas.

So how was everyones 4th? Nothing too much going on here in PA. Just back at the office and stuff, working hard and watching the world cup. lol I am going to visit Vitruvius this weekend, if anyone in the area wants to join holla at me. It should be quite interesting. Well hopefully everyone enjoyed their 4th and enjoys the rest of the summer!! 6 weeks til schoooooool!! :) YAY

Life is still unexciting. This telling people mundane things about your life is really addictive though.
Therefore: yesterday I finished reading Yukio Mishima's Spring Snow. It was good. Please don't take that as a book recommendation.
Also I start working at a warehouse today...11-3, should be pretty good, but we'll see.
Party at the art museum tommorrow night and then at the other art museum next Wed.

Hey Everyone!

So my summer has been pretty good. I went to Sasquatch Music Festival at the Gorge in George, Washington (seriously, that's the name of the town it's in...) and it was AMAZING. I camped out with my friends Friday-Tuesday of Memorial Day Weekend in sunny Eastern Washington, and there were 3 straight days of music where I saw people like Vampire Weekend, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, and Deadmau5. So much fun. And then I went back to the Gorge last weekend for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers...woohoo!

Other than those few musical adventures, it's been pretty normal. This is my 3rd week at my new job, where I host and expo at a seafood restaurant (yummy!). Sadly, Seattle has been cold and rainy pretty much this whole time :( The other day it was supposed to have a high of 76, and the weather man said it'd be the warmest day in 9 months...no joke. Even for Seattle this weather is bad. I hope the sun comes out soon, cause I need to work on my tan (haha)!

Thought you might be interested in an exhibition that just recently happened close to the Pantheon in lovely Roma. Here, the tsa rome students' work in Sicily as well as throughout the semester is presented. For those of you planning on applying to TSA Rome, and for Bojo, who is going to get to spend the next semester in my favorite city of the world, I just wanted to relay the kind of great opportunities we had when we went there. I highly recommend applying to TSA Rome, and if not, another study abroad program if you have the opportunity to do so. It really was one of the best experiences of my life, and I still look upon my time there fondly. [and i wish i was going back!]

Also, everything is going well in very hot India. Yesterday one of my friends tried to do Red Fort in Delhi, where I definitely plan on visiting soon, and got a minor heat stroke! It was like 130 degrees outside. She's fine, but she learned.

I found the most perfect library for my research yesterday as well- the American Institute of Indian Studies, where its a VERY good thing that I'm an American Passport holder- everywhere else I'm kind of glad I'm Indian and can speak the language haha. But the building is GORGEOUS- I'm going back every day of the week next week, so I promise to take some pictures. Brick at its best, I tell you.

Also I can't believe USA is still in the running...go Argentina! I wanna see Maradona run through the streets naked haha.

Let's see... I've pretty much just been working! I'm hostessing/back-waiting/serving drinks/working fundraisers for the restaurant Atchafalaya uptown. It's nice because I pretty much just chat with people and make money... yay money! I'm currently in Mississippi (I know, be jealous. Mississippi is far better than any place in the world. Except for Arkansas...........) visiting my mom and freaking out about the oil spill. Evidently the rig by the source of the nasty problem caught fire yesterday... can't catch a break.

Other than that I'm just wandering around New Orleans wishing everyone was back already! If anyone comes back early let me know! :)

Hi!

So now that I finally figured out how to work this stupid thing lol I can finally post about my (not so) exciting life. Ummm well work is going well pretty much getting paid to eat, watch the world cup, and learn revit. Pretty cool I guess. And job #2 is going. Blech like usual. This past weekend I went and visited our domitian brothers. I attended their chapters summer meeting. It was good to see that we are not the only (dis)functional chapter :) But they had elections and etc. and talked about next year. lol. They also had a barbecue.... and then we attended portugese fest in the ghetto of Newark. Here I fell in love with sangria. So over all it was an interesting visit lol. So now I am jsut working 50-60 hours a week until I figure out something ot do with my life. The only other thing I really have planned apxish is going to the arts festival at Penn State with some Domitians to go visit our lovely Virturivans (ninja monkeys unite!) yay. Well thats about all I got to say. Hopefully everyone is enjoying their summers. Peace out gangstas.

Just to prove I'm super cool.

Last night I ate brownies, drank tea and played 10ish games of bannanagrams. My life is super exciting.

So my break has been pretty uneventful. I go to camp next Wednesday though, so I'm super psyched. Also, I would like to publicly announce how sad I am that Ben in transferring. Anyway, during my first week back I went to a taping of The Today Show and saw Sting perform, which was cool. I also saw Al Roker, and let's be serious, everyone loves him. I went to the city last week with my suitemates and we went to the Museum of Sex. It was interesting, and a little awkward. Also, I did have a hospital incident already. I gave blood on Monday, and 2 hours later I passed out (twice) in the middle of a busy street. Then, someone called an ambulance and I was put in a stretcher and everything. Definitely in the top 3 for most embarrassing moments. That's pretty much it for me.

Finally In India

Hi Everyone!

I just got into New Delhi, which is a capital of India on early Saturday [India time]morning. For anyone planning to make the trip here at any point in your life, try and get a direct flight, because its the stopover that really kills you. My flight experience wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but on the first flight [from Newark to Frankfurt] I did have the prerequisite old man who smelled of garlic, ginger and turmeric, and obviously had a gas problem. On the second flight, Air India, who is notorious for overbooking their flights, had maybe half occupancy. It was great! I got to stretch out an sleep, not knowing exactly when we would land, because all three of the airports I graced in the 20 hours during which I travelled seemed to have ridiculous delays. Anyway, I landed in Delhi 5 hours after I was supposed to reach, but all was well. After coming home to a family friends' [the house is AMAZING, and I get to meet the architect tomorrow!] and sleeping for roughly three hours, I was whisked off by a few friends my age or so to go shopping in the back roads of Delhi. The really rough temperature of the city is probably take a few days to get used to- yesterday's mid afternoon temperature was around 120 F, and given that I get stares from the local boys even in what feels like a potato sack, I was in the heat in long jeans- it was pretty sticky. The shopping was pretty good though- one of my friends bought five pairs of shoes for 1500 rupees, which is roughly $30. I love shopping in India haha. While we were still out, I did something my parents [who aren't here] would never have let me do- I had one of my favorite India snacks, a popsicle/snowball type thing called Kala Khatta, shaved ice packed into a popsicle like shape and dipped into a glass full of a strange tangy, salty, sweet, delicious syrup which has no trouble turning my mouth and tongue BRIGHT red. The reason I'm not allowed is because the ice the street vendors use is not exactly kosher, and can bring on stomach problems which rival Charlotte's little accident in the first Sex and the City Movie [has any one seen the second one yet? I'd love to hear your opinion!] Given the heat and my need to cool off after a successful day of shopping, I decided to ignore my obedient half and went for it. SOOOOO good, and luckily no stomach problems! i only got to finish about a quarter of it though, because a street kid snatched it right out of my hands! I didn't have the heart to say anything though, and ended up getting him another one for his kid brother. Poor kids! This might have been all they got to have all day, and in this heat, at least they had some reprieve. India is so over populated, and while I've been exposed to the poverty my entire life [its a little hard to ignore] I still can't help but be sympathetic. I did get a funny picture of my hot sweaty self with bright red lips while we were waiting for the metro to take us back home though! And this isn't my last Kala Khatta! I swear, if I can, at my wedding, I'll have all of this great Indian street food- its my favorite!

Tomorrow I get to go meet the architect of the house in which I am staying. It will be nice to talk to a practicing architect who does vaastu work. More on that tomorrow. For now, I'm attaching a few pictures for your enjoyment...

hahah agreed. the reason, my darling brian, is because there is nothing yet to post. however, expect tons from after i leave for india next week! it is my mission this summer [other than the thesis research] to take tons of pictures, at the least. until then, love you all, and hope you're getting some time to relax!
